07/2025: Providing clarity to schizophrenic industry messaging as the market moves forward towards 2035
Edition No. 07-2025 European Electric Car Study – West European Electric Passenger Car Market Trend Study covering the period 7 months 2025
July is a traditionally slow month for the European new car market, due to the inherent seasonality of the summer vacation period in many European markets. That is also, understandably, reflected in BEV volumes, which achieved 177,987 new units in July, representing an 18.7% market share. This remains within the 18-21% new car mix penetration corridor for the seventh consecutive month this year.
July's regional BEV penetration was three percentage points lower sequentially than in June, with the impact primarily coming from high BEV penetration in North European markets, such as Norway, Denmark, and Sweden. In particular, these markets were most affected by the summer vacation effect, resulting in lower volumes to the region's total.
An automotive market intelligence study aimed at automotive industry stakeholders, strategic planners, policymakers, and all those with a holistic vested interest in the industry and its direction.
