Western Europe’s electric-vehicle market has moved decisively into a higher-growth phase in 2026. Battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) accounted for 25.3% of new passenger-car registrations across the region’s 18 markets in the first eight months, up from 18.7% a year earlier, while plug-in vehicles, including plug-in hybrids (PHEVs), reached a 36.2% share.
